Student’s Union Awareness Day, held on November 4, 2019, is an initiative by the NTUSU Student Engagement Committee to raise awareness among members of the student body about the various committees within NTUSU, as well as their initiatives to empower the student population.
Held at Canopy K at North Spine, the event featured a slew of interactive experiences and games for students to learn more about NTUSU and its committees. Students participated in the mini games at the committee booths and earned stamps for their SU passport to earn attractive prizes. There was also a lucky draw that offered a range of attractive prizes – including NTU shirts, JBL Bluetooth speakers, and even an exclusive mini fridge. To top it all off, students were also treated to a complimentary cup of FrothTea Bubble Tea.
“Our aim is to engage the student body by letting them know that their concerns are heard”, said Vicki Sim, the Student Engagement Executive overseeing the Student Engagement Committee, as well as the Welcome Week Committee, “We want to strike a close relationship between NTUSU and the student body, by letting them understand our causes and initiatives. We want to hear what they have to say, for example, what they want to see in future events.”
Additionally, this year’s SU Awareness Day also saw a special collaboration by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), who shared about their campaign, “Spark The Next”, which calls for youths to play a part in shaping the future of Singapore by voting for their favourite initiative for the transformation of the Somerset Belt.
“Everyone seemed to enjoy really enjoy themselves through the interactive activities,” said Song Chi, Chairperson of the Student Engagement Committee organising SU Awareness day.
“More students are now aware of NTUSU committees and their initiatives, which achieves our overarching goal of bridging the student body and SU,” he added.
We certainly hope that SU Awareness Day has helped students understand more about Students’ Union and our various committees!
