Happy end of finals – school’s finally out! With December rounding up the end of the year, here are six exciting events that you can look forward to. From musicals and comic conventions to beach parties, you’re in for an eventful month ahead!
1. Culture Cartel

The first street culture convention in Asia features street artists, fashion brands and tattoo artists. Look out for the likes of graffiti and mural artist Lady Pink, Russian tattoo artist Sasha Unisex and graffiti artist Stash. Explore the diversity of street culture through engaging workshops and special exhibitions from familiar clothing brands like Skechers and Vans.

2. Singapore Comic Con

Calling all gamers and comic book lovers! This year’s Comic Con celebrates the iconic superhero Batman’s 80th anniversary. Swing by the SuperFan Meet & Greet for a close-up session with Batman comic artists such as Andy Kubert, Greg Capullo and Jock (Mark Simpson), while taking home signed exclusive products. Alternatively, get your hands on limited edition comic books, games, toys and collectibles. For those hardcore e-sports fans, challenge yourself with a chance to play and learn from Dota 2’s legendary player, Ceb (Sébastien Debs).

3. Cats: The Musical

One of the longest-running musicals on Broadway and West End since 1980, you’ll be clapping your paws and dancing along on your feet to Cats. The show follows the tale of a tribe of Jellicle cats that meet up on one special night of the year, to determine which cat will be reborn and ascend to the Heavenside layer. Composed by the world-renowned Andrew Lloyd Webber (who also composed The Phantom of the Opera), the musical is an eclectic mix of music, fancy choreography and eye-catching costumes.

4. Singapore Symphony Orchestra: The Music of Star Wars

Before watching the highly anticipated final instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – which comes to theatres on 19 December – get your hearts ready while listening to orchestral numbers of legendary composer John Williams. The orchestra, which is led by Australian conductor Christopher Dragon, will showcase familiar tunes from the movie series such as The Imperial March, Yoda’s Theme and Across The Stars.

5. Christmas Wonderland

This event is practically a yearly affair for many of us – what with the Instagram-worthy backdrops, dazzling light installations, and decadent food. Its sixth edition this year impresses with added flashy details – it marks the debut of a Christmas parade as well as an interactive Santa’s Workshop. Fill your stomachs with the wide variety of food – ranging from lobster rolls from the luxurious Burger & Lobster, tacos from Mac Taco’s, skewers from Shiso and sweet treats at the Dessert Wonderland.

6. Siloso Beach Party 2019

Forget the woes of this year and usher in 2020 with raving beats. With two stages featuring 12 hours of non-stop chart-topping beats, you’ll be dancing all night long. At the main stage, bop to the beats of party music from top international DJs like Julian Jordan and Mashd N Kutcher. Local and regional DJs like Jade Rasif, DJ Caden, and DJ Queenzell will lead the second stage with hip hop and R&B tunes.
